That is gorgeous work! What tool are you using to make the rough textured background?

Stippling is done with a 400k pneumatic drill and carbide ball mill.

OK, I'm calling it ruffed in. Now it's time to do some shaping and refinements.
The tight grain of ebony helps too. It also will polish up to a shine with micro mesh. Once the finish goes on it helps to even up the color. It seems to me that with this type of carving a lot has to do with how it reflects light.

Defined the shapes by some undercutting in places and deepening stipple and deepening veining. Trying to decide if I want to do anything with the 1" space between the slots and beneath the point or just call it complete and finish it. I also sanded with a few grits of micro mesh to break any hard edges and polish high areas to give an organic look and feel to overall design. I guess I'll think about it over a couple of cold brews, Cheers! :x

Beautiful job. Rolling rock is an excellent beer. The headstock looks good too!

Filippo, are you referring to that very bottom curved/rounded line on the flat between the slots or the outside border in relation to the string ramps?

Love it, Chris! I kind of like the way it tapers off toward the nut. With strings passing over, you won't miss any detail in that area.

Looks great to me, Chris! That work shows a great deal of patience, not to mention the talent involved!

Thanks all, but you are much too kind.
I'm not too sure if it takes any more patience then inlay or making up sticks and tiles for inlay and rosettes. It's really kind of relaxing at times. Almost like meditating, I get really focused on what I'm doing and maybe chant out a Jackson Browne lyric from time to time... :)
